WSA Programs

Annual Summer Volunteer Week

We work in cooperation with Kentucky Mountain Housing during the week. This organization works to provide and maintain affordable housing options for people in the area. Our volunteers contribute their labor hours on various construction sites, depending on the need that week. Volunteers should be healthy, able to work 8 hour days outside on construction sites, and willing to live in dormitory-style accomodations. Complete information is available on the Annual Summer Volunteer Week page.

Fall Sewing Week

The Fall Sewing Week is being developed with The University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension—Lewis County. Volunteers will join local homemakers and youth on community-focused sewing projects. Volunteers for this week should have proficient sewing skills. Accomodations are rustic and the week includes a lot of walking up and down hills and stairs. Complete information is available on the Fall Sewing Week page.

Academic Scholarship

WSA is offering $500 for undergraduate or graduate students in any field of study who are involved in community service with an at-risk population. The scholarship may be used for tuition and/or books. Complete information is available on the Academic Scholarship Program page.
