WSA is offering $500 for undergraduate or graduate students in any field of study who are involved in community service with an at-risk population. The scholarship may be used for tuition and/or books.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Women 18 years or older (may be high school senior)
• Enrolled or accepted in an institution of higher learning
• Regularly involved in community service
• Repeat applications will not be considered

DEADLINE:

The application deadline is June 1, 2010. The award recipient will be notified by Aug. 15, 2010.

SUBMIT:

• Completed, typed scholarship application form. An electronic version is available under the "Forms" section of our Web site, or click HERE.
• Two letters of reference, on organization letterhead, from adults who can speak to your involvement in community service.
• Community Service resume that lists and explains the service you have been involved in during the last four years.
• Typed 300-word essay responding to the questions: "Please briefly describe an important economic, environmental, or social issue facing Appalachia today. For the issue you have chosen, and based on your service experience and school studies, please describe how an individual can help address this issue."
• Transcript of college work or proof of enrollment/acceptance.
